NESTING
Nesting, clutter-clearing, purging, I don't know what you call it, but I've got it!. Over Christmas holidays, the kids are home from college, and I'm nesting. Well, at first it's more like burrowing. I don't know if it's a pregnancy thing or a Winter hibernation thing. I've been sick with a terrible sore throat, cough, sinus infection. I would like to remove my head and place it in a closet until Spring. I actually lost my voice for two weeks. While everyone else is singing 'Gaudete' and other Christmas carols and hymns, I weep because I can't sing along. Singing together is a huge part of our family time and I'm left out. It's brutal. I don't want to see anyone or talk to anyone. I just want to cuddle under my down comforter and drown myself in Theraflu. The beginning of my pregnancy was so tentative; I was afraid to move for fear I'd miscarry. I dreaded going to the office, the gym, or anywhere in the car. Then I got sick, so I just stayed in bed most of the day. Being on a self-imposed house arrest, makes me realize how cluttered my house is. I go on a clutter-clearing rampage. It's good. With less than gentle persuasion, I 'convince' Sean to reduce the number of boxes he has stored in my house since he's gone off to school. Out with the old boy, and in with the new! I have no intention of succumbing to Empty Nest Syndrome. In fact, the day after I dropped Sean off at college, I went to the animal shelter and got a dog. Then, I got another dog. I was thinking of calling them Sean and Selina, but...I'd be wrong for that. Now that Nicole is getting ready to graduate from high school, we've applied to get an exchange student from Germany. I decided on a student rather than another dog to replace Nicole because I'm tired of poop patrol. I understand Germans are very clean. Coincidently, the young man's name is Philipp, so by the end of the Summer, I'll have two sons named Philip(p)! My nest will be clean, but it may never be empty.
I love hearing about the day-to-day of your pregnancy. I get an end-of-year/beginning-of-spring urge to purge, too. Do you think it's because we had the same Mom? When I'm doing it, I always hear her in my head saying, "Out with the old. In with the new."

I think one of the funniest parts was when you said you were going to name the dogs after Sean and me. Ha. I love you so much! Keep writing!
